Question: What was your last big failure or set back? Did you get right back up or was it a struggle?

Similar to problems and challenges, your beliefs about failure and setbacks can either propel you to victory or stop you dead in your tracks and send you deep into depression.  Taken from “The Winner’s Mindset” training I’ve sprinkled in a few masterful mindsets regarding failure and setbacks.  As you read them notice if any resonate with you and commit them to memory.

The 14th Dalai Lama who was persecuted by Chinese authorities and banned from his own country has inspired millions of people to be more compassionate and worked tirelessly for world peace. He declares: “Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.”

The Sage Confucius ads: “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

The highly successful American filmmaker, writer, actor, comedian, and musician Woody Allen whose career spans more than six decades was quoted as saying: “If you’re not failing, it’s a sign you’re playing it safe.

Formerly the executive chairman of both CBS and Viacom Sumner Redstone is one of the most successful media magnates in history with interests in almost every major media company and a net worth of over $5 billion dollars. Redstone is famous for declaring: Success is not built on success. It’s built on failure. It’s built on frustration. Sometimes its built on catastrophe.”

Have you ever failed because you didn’t get the financial support or resources you needed? To this Tony Robbins declares: “Effective leaders know that resources are never the problem; it’s always a matter or resourcefulness…there are no unresourceful people, only unresourceful states.”

One thing is for certain; if you are a human being living on Earth, you will have setbacks along the road of life, failure is part of life’s design. These could manifest as the simplest of things, like a cold that makes you cough, sneeze, and feel lifeless, or a loss of income from your car breaking down or an argument that damages your relationship with a friend or family member.

Of course, setbacks can also manifest as some of the most heart wrenching situations, like breaking up from a long-term relationship or marriage, losing your job or business or losing someone you really love to illness or untimely death.

We know setbacks are coming; this is one of life’s guarantees so why do we react with such horror and inability to cope when they do show up?

The first and most important thing to understand is the meaning we give to setbacks. Our minds have been conditioned over thousands of years to pay more attention to danger than they have to opportunity. We call this the old brain, specifically the reptilian brain that responds with a fight or flight reaction. It was designed to help us react quickly and run from a bear or lion when we were out hunting for dinner.

But times are changing; most of us don’t encounter wild animals when we go eat out at Chipotle… other than the rats that love fast food. And we are evolving as a species. The neocortex or new brain, allows us to think from a more evolved perspective and create new meanings.

For instance, if you’re car breaks down, you could lament and get depressed or you could say it’s breaking down saved your life, for if it had broken down in the wrong spot you may be dead. And this could be a sign to go buy or lease a new car so you never have that problem again.

The now revolutionary Apple started off with two men in a garage. Years later we all know it as that multi-billion company with several thousand employees. Yet, almost unbelievably, Steve Jobs was fired from the very company he began. The dismissal made him realize that his passion for his work exceeded the disappointment of failure. Further ventures such as NeXT and Pixar eventually led Jobs back to the CEO position at Apple who was quoted as saying: “I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.”

The main point here is summed up by Jim Rohn, a master motivator who once said: “You learn more when you fail than when you win.”

Gain Confidence with The Roots to Fruits Model

The Roots & The Fruits of Confidence

Why do so many people fall apart when once we move past the physical realm of confidence where big biceps and beer goggles just don’t cut it? And why do they turn to mind-altering substance? What’s wrong with their minds?

When somebody lacks confidence in today’s modern society we are conditioned to believe that things like more money, a better car, a better job, a longer beard, taller shoes, more tattoos or more trophies will somehow make us more confident.   Some even misinterpret confidence as being an asshole or dominating others, which is really just overcompensation for lack of real confidence.

The problem with these solutions is that they only treat the effect or symptom of a problem, which has little or nothing to do with treating the root cause or underlying deficiency. As a result, similar to hacking at the branches of a troublesome weed without excavating the entire root, the problem eventually returns.

One of the best analogies for creating new results is a tree that bears fruit. As you can see from the diagram above there is a 4-step process, which creates the fruits of confidence as follows:

  1. You take action and focus on something, which feeds and influences your roots or beliefs
  2. The roots are also fed and influenced by the soil, which is your friends, family, co-workers and the media we watch and listen to.
  3. The roots are your beliefs created from step 1&2
  4. The fruits or lack thereof, are the result of your beliefs and action taken based on those beliefs

For instance, using health as an analogy, let’s say you get sick one day and your health just isn’t up to par. But poor health isn’t the problem; it’s the result of some cause, rather than one day just randomly getting sick.

A more likely scenario is that you got sick because a week ago you stressed your body way out of balance with intoxication or lack of sleep or both and your immune system was weakened to the point where it couldn’t fight off a very common virus or bacteria.  Remember the Beachamp’s “Cellular Theory” vs. Pasteur’s “Germ Theory”? Illness is created when the host (you) are toxic or out of balance.

So in using our tree analogy, poor nutrients in the soil may represent poor nutrition or intoxication from drugs and alcohol or stress from a breakup or lack of money, which all lead to a breakdown in your immune system (the roots). This then translates into fewer nutrients to the trunk and branches and as a result, the fruits either don’t grow at all or they are rotten (you get sick).

Let’s use another analogy like money. Lack of money isn’t a problem; it’s a result, which could be related to not working, working on the wrong things or spending too much. But if we look at our roots to fruits analogy, the roots are your beliefs, which then created lack of work, working on the wrong thing or too much spending (the fruits or lack thereof).

Of course this “result” thing doesn’t just apply to health and money, but to all of our results including confidence. Lack of confidence isn’t a problem it’s a result. And from our roots to fruits analogy, confidence comes from taking specific actions.

If you aren’t as successful as you’d like to be with making money or finding the relationship you so desire or creating a robust healthy body, chances are you may lack money, love or good health, but lack of these things isn’t the problem, they’re the result. The result comes from the roots, which are your beliefs, which come from the water or what you’ve focused on in the past and been conditioned to believe in the present.

How To Feel Confident – 1 Magic Word that Makes or Breaks All Confidence

Do you ever feel uncertain about walking into public spaces?  How about speaking in front of strangers?  How about speaking about yourself?  The problem with most people in this situation is that they think they need confidence to overcome these obstacles, while this may be the case, first you need to do something before you get confidence and it’s summed up in 1 word.  Can you guess what it is?

If you guessed “Action,” you’re right.  You can’t get confidence without taking action.  When we look at the step-by-step process of manifestation, everything starts with a thought based on a belief (roots). If we take action towards manifesting that thought, it will become reality (the fruits).

For instance, if you think about having a business that makes $1,000 a month in extra income and you take the action to learn from the masters, apply their suggestions and persist, eventually you’ll see a resulting increase in your income.

Or if you think about being in a relationship with your soul mate drinking pina colada’s on the beach in Cancun and you take the time to locate, attract, and build trust with them, eventually there is a good chance this person will end up in your arms one day.

So essentially, the bridge between thoughts of what you want and the results (fruits) of what you actually get is ACTION!

How To Boost Self Esteem – A Proven Step by Step Method

There are many ways to boost self-esteem and in this article, we’ll focus on one particular strategy called Future Pacing. Future pacing, also known as “visualization,” is the act of focusing on an outcome before it’s happened, which thereby “sets the pace for the future”.

The idea of focusing on something you desire will prevent you from focusing on what you don’t want and as the Buddha Shakyamuni so famously said: “What you think you become.” In other words, when you focus on something enough, you rewire the neurons in your brain to recondition themselves on empowering thoughts. These empowering thoughts then lead to empowering emotions like increase self-esteem and these, in turn, dictate your actions, which then create your results.

Ok so not everything you imagine will actually happen, but the simple act of doing this forces you to focus on a preferred outcome. Keeping your eyes on the prize rather than the process is one of the master’s keys to staying on track and getting new more favorable results.

Think about it… if all you focus on is how many steps it takes to make something happen, you’ll most likely just get discouraged. But if you keep your eyes on the prize, you’ll have way more motivation to move through all those steps regardless of how challenging they may be.

For example, let’s say you wanted to build a business around a new revolutionary bike that had the ability to hop curbs without any effort. The wrong focus would be on the hundred plus steps to the finish line including: taking days to simply sketch out the designs, finding someone to be the engineer, finding a factory to build it, finding the money to complete it and then focusing on all the time you will NOT be doing your regular activities like traveling and having fun. All this creates feelings of being overwhelmed and will stop you dead in your tracks.

Or let’s say you want to be more self-confident and find an intimate relationship with someone who really rocks your boat. The wrong focus is on the past and any bad relationships or the future and how you have to do all the searching for this needle in a haystack, then reveal all your shortcomings, then to somehow convince them to fall in love with you and all your shortcomings.

Instead, use these “5 Steps To Future Pacing” as follows:

1) Close your eyes and imagine that above you there is a timeline of past, present, and future.
2) Now take yourself up into the timeline in the present time and look to the future and picture the goal you want to achieve on the date it will be achieved.
3) Next look back into the timeline and notice all the things that occurred to make that goal a reality; all the work, the people involved and the progress.
4) Next look forward into the timeline and go past the time your goal is achieved to notice what life looks like. Notice all the good feelings, what the people around you are doing and how they are treating you. Now bring it to life by juicing up the submodalities like: animating it in full color, with people’s expressions and words, the weather, the trees, the gifts in your life, the house, the car, the temperature on your skin, the love in your life. Now notice how real it all feels.
5) Come back down to the current time and notice how you feel.

Practice future pacing when you’re feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. Give up the excuses, try it out now, it only takes two minutes and you’ll feel confident about your future prospects.

Remember, these are all tools that require conditioning over time. Try them all at least a few times each then pick a couple you can sink your teeth into. The first few reps will most likely feel uncomfortable, which only means… you’re headed in the right direction. Keep going!

How To Get Rid Of Fear – The Most Simple Solution Ever Created

Many people have said there are two emotions in life, fear and love. If you are wondering how to get rid of fear this gives us an indication of where to look. If love is the opposite of fear then we need to look into love a little deeper.

Love can be for many things including your family, friends or your pets, but in this case, the most important love is self-love. Self-love is being able to look in the mirror and say I love you and have it resonate comfortably. Now, this isn’t some easy task, in fact, most of my clients have a major challenge doing this, it’s their Achilles’ heel. The problem is, loving yourself is a process, which takes years of practice with the right tools and strategies, which are taught in my Triad of Confidence program.

One of the other areas we can look to when speaking of love is your love for others. When you see someone in society who is suffering do you have compassion for them? And when you see someone who is succeeding in society do you resent them?

By resenting someone who is successful we can see a reflection of our own belief about ourselves. Which again is a lack of self-love. If we relate this to fear we can see that the fear comes from your belief created somewhere in your past that you are not good enough. While this may have come from poor parental conditioning, at some point when our parents are no longer an influence in our lives, we will either choose to recondition this belief or allow society to impose its negative conditioning and reinforce this disempowering belief.

One of the simplest exercises you can possibly do to get rid of fear is to simply think about the worst-case scenario in a situation where you’re feeling fearful. So for instance if you are going to a job interview or if your man and you are trying to approach a beautiful woman you can simply imagine the worst case scenario prior to taking action.

So in the job interview scenario, the worst-case scenario might be that they simply say: “No sorry you’re not qualified.” This obviously means that you’re going to live another day and it won’t be a big deal. So if you can imagine this before you go into the interview, chances are you’ll have much more confidence.

The same thing applies to the dating situation. If you imagine that the worst thing a woman will say to you is sorry I got to leave or maybe she just looks away, then if you imagine this prior to approaching you’ll already have known she was going to do it and it won’t even phase you.
